It may seem a strange title to call an article, doesn’t it?

However considering the significant portion of terminal diseases that are derived from what we eat and drink, we think it is very fitting.

What should we know in regards to what we eat and drink that we can prevent or at least limit the ”death in the pot” effect in our own lives and perhaps the lives of others? Below are a few items.
  1. What is food?
  2. What is the origin of food?
  3. How do animal items fit in?
Being far from exhaustive, we’ll here briefly share some principles to help navigate this important topic, hoping it will afford you with something to put in practice in your own life.

What is food?

In most cases it’s a difficult task to precisely define things, but Dr Shelton provided an excellent idea of what food is. He said, food  “is that material which can be incorporated into and become a part of the cells and fluids of the body. Non-useful materials, such as drugs, are all poisonous. To be a true food, the substance eaten must not contain useless or harmful ingredients”.

Then he continued with giving an example of a non-food item; “tobacco, which is a plant, contains proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and water. As such, it should be a food. But, in addition to these materials, it also contains considerable quantities of poisons, one of these, one of the most virulent poisons known to science. Tobacco, therefore, is not a food.” (Food Combining Made Easy, p9)

In the Genesis, the beginning or origins of things is where we find the origin of foods too, not the supermarket.
What is the origin of food?

In the Genesis, the beginning or origins of things is where we find the origin of foods too, not the supermarket. These are the ideal food items as per the definition above. “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” (Genesis 1:29)

Notice that the word “meat” here means food, both as in the original word, but also in the context as can be seen in the statement.

Herb bearing seed include grains and seeds such as spelt, sorghum, wheat, while rice, fonio, mays to name a few and among seeds we find, pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, psyllium seeds, chia seeds; while from trees we get fruit, berries of all kinds, and nuts such as almond nuts, cashew nuts, walnuts, Brazil nuts, mangoes, grapes, pears, guava, apples, blueberries, strawberries. Yes it’s nearly an endless list of nutritious foods.

About this diet God had provided, He confirmed, “behold, it was very good”. (Genesis 1:31)

John the son of Zebedee once informed us of the inseparable link between life and light. Talking about the Originator of all things, he said, “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4) John’s statement reveals at least two things, firstly and without refutation, our life is derived from Christ, being “He” in this context. Secondly, life here is synonymous to light, and it’s this light that continually enables us to live, and actually make our skin to glow.

You see, the original diet, as spoken of already, comprises of items that are capable of capturing sun light energy, water and minerals to then convert them into nutritious food energy to keep us (and beasts) alive. Scientists have name termed it photosynthesis. This makes John’s statement above doubly true, one, Christ made us and keeps us alive,  but also, two, by adhering to His forethought diet for us, we work or labour together with Him to extend our lifespan and quality of life, while limiting degeneration in the form of ill health.

In other words, there’s much we can do to affect our health positively, let us play part!

God made provision for during and after the flood, at which time flesh foods were permitted, howbeit with strict regulations.

How do animal items fit in?

These had no part in the original diet (neither had the vegetables, which were introduced immediately after Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s clear direction), but were introduced as an emergency diet after, as a result of increasing evil among people, the fruits, herbs, nuts and seeds where swept away by the great flood.

God made provision for during and after the flood, at which time flesh foods were permitted, howbeit with strict regulations. Two examples of restrictions were 1) eat the clean and discard the unclean, and 2) eat  it the blood nor the fat, it was also important how it was prepared including the health of the animal.

Furthermore, one criteria was very different from the scenario with plant-based foods, namely with  consumption of animal based foods, God announced that the life of the person who ate it would diminish. Surely that’s the case today as many suffer from tumours, hypertension, strokes, heart attacks, fibroids, pneumonia, parasites, to just name a few, not to forget epidemics that partly have their roots in animals people eat as if they were food. See for yourself:

“3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. 4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. 5 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.” (Genesis 9:3-5)

It displeases God when His creatures die and if flesh items were prepared according to His instructions to be eaten, it would not a be as popular as it is today. Less of it would be eaten and less lives would be lost. In fact without the remnants of blood as in the “medium-rare”, the fat and the artificial seasonings, it wouldn’t have the addictive effect, and as one speaker once said,, the flesh items would taste as cardboard.

These instructions are still valid today. Seeing that the conditions of animal, as far as their health condition is concerned, has worsened, it is better we  educate ourselves to return to the original diet. Fish suffer from tumours, parasites and toxic chemicals, cattle suffer from tumours, are treated with anti-bacteria pharmaceutical that are then transferred to people; while fowl increasingly breed parasitic diseases that undermine our constitutions in ways untold.

For these reasons, animal item do not meet the criteria of an ideal food, therefore it’s best to stay off it. In fact why eat vegetables second hand, when we can get it first hand, and exclude all harmful substances. This way, we’d have less ‘death in the pot’ experiences in our lives.
